The Osprey – An Amazing Predator

In keeping with my theme of not having much of a theme, I’m posting this amazing video of an osprey that a friend sent me.  It’s not about ships/writing/humor, but I think you’ll agree that it’s pretty cool.

      Alan,

Thanks for the kind words regarding Deadly Straits. I’ve put you on the email notification list for the sequel, Deadly Coast, due out in a few weeks.

      Sincerely,

      Bob

Amazing hunters. I spent an afternoon some years back at the visitors center at Starved Rock Lock & Dam watching three migrating ospreys as they fished. The area below the dam is a popular fishing spot for people as well, but over the course of the afternoon, the two legged fishermen weren’t doing all that good, but the ones with wings were cleaning up! Amazing to watch… There are now a nesting pair on the Illinois River, they have a nest on a power pylon about six miles below Pekin, IL.

They are amazing hunters, indeed! I’ve never been fortunate enough to see one take a fish in real life, but the videos are impressive enough.
